According to the data mentioned in the meeting of the Scholarship Observatory, the number of beneficiaries of financial aid has increased from 89,376 in the 2018-2019 academic period to 215,729 in 2020-2021.
During this last school year, a total of 363,000 students received scholarships, either partially or totally. These figures reflect the effort and commitment on the part of educational institutions to promote access to university studies.
The scholarships that every student in the national territory can apply for, regardless of the studies they pursue, the university in which they are enrolled or the course they are in, are the MEC Scholarships. These financial aid granted by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training aim to help students obtain training. In order to apply for it, you need some minimum requirements .

What type of scholarships does UIE offer?
At UIE, we value the importance of investing in your future through university studies. That’s why we have developed an ambitious scholarship program that allocates up to 15% of our annual income to support talented and committed students.
Our university offers scholarships for both bachelor’s and master’s programs. These scholarships are designed to provide financial support to students interested in pursuing either of these two academic modalities.
UIE University Degree Scholarships
The Scholarships and aid for University Degree students offered by the UIE are classified into Scholarships for Excellence, Talent Scholarships and Governing Council Scholarships.
Scholarships for Excellence
These scholarships reduce up to 90% of the total price of the corresponding degree. In addition, beneficiary students will have the opportunity to collaborate with university departments.
To access the scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Not having a previous university degree.
- Have an average high school grade equal to or greater than 8 (out of 10).
- Have been admitted to pursue a degree at the UIE.
Regarding the number of Excellence Scholarships per year, one scholarship is awarded for each of the degrees, on both campuses.
The deadline to submit the scholarship application is June 30, 2023.
Talent Scholarships
Our Talent Scholarships consider both the academic record and the economic and family situation of the applicants. In the 2023/2024 academic period, these scholarships will cover up to a maximum of 60% of the academic fee, as established in the bases.
To access the scholarship, it is necessary to meet the following requirements:
- Have an average high school grade equal to or greater than 7 (out of 10).
- Not having a previous university degree.
- Have a family income within the thresholds of the call.
The deadline to submit the scholarship application isJune 30, 2023.
Governing Council Scholarships
The UIE grants a scholarship of 100% of the academic fee to the student with the best weighted average grade each semester.
UIE Master’s Scholarships
The Master’s Scholarships awarded by UIE seek to reward those students who are an example of determination and improvement.
At UIE we have two scholarships for Master’s students: the Excellence Scholarships and the Talent Scholarships.

Our scholarships offer a reduction of up to 90% on the cost of the master’s degree. Its purpose is to recognize the efforts of students and motivate them to constantly seek excellence and improvement. For the 2023/2024 academic year, a total of 4 scholarships for excellence are being announced, one for each of the university master’s degrees taught on the A Coruña and Vigo campuses.

- Have been admitted to study a Master’s degree at the UIE.
- Have a final average grade higher than 8 and good results in the UIE admission tests.

Talent Scholarships
The main objective of the scholarship is to recognize the academic talent of students, also considering their socioeconomic situation. The percentage of the scholarship awarded varies depending on the grade obtained and family income and may cover up to 60% of the cost of the Master’s degree.

- Have an average grade equal to or greater than 7 in a university degree recognized in the European Higher Education Area.
- Have a family income within the thresholds of the call.
