Until August 19, 8 students who graduated from the Master of International Relations at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in China will participate in this action that combines the training program with internships in Galician companies.
05.07.2023
This morning we inaugurated the new modality of our Advanced Diploma in International Relations, DARI 2, the first Spanish international business program of an intercultural nature that is taught in Galicia at the university level.
The institutional opening ceremony was held at our Vigo Campus and was attended by our International Relations coordinator, Begoña Jamardo, and our Corporate Development coordinator, Andrés Armada Osorio. On behalf of the collaborating companies were Jorge Sieiro, director of Human Resources at Albo; Brenda Costas, Director of Human Resources at Citic Heavy Industries; Antía Barros, Human Resources and Aitor Poseu, Export Manager of Grupo Profand; Mercedes Martín, financial director of Lanzal; and Lois Fernández Meijide, Chinese Operations Director of Pesciro.
The new modality
In this sense, this new modality includes an offer that combines theoretical training with practice in companies with which UIE has signed a collaboration framework. Thus, the eight students who graduated from the Master of International Relations at the University of International Business and Economics of China, with the most outstanding records, will participate in this immersive program in companies such as Grupo Profand, Hijos de Carlos Albo, Lanzal, Citic Heavy Industries and Pesciro. Of them, half have already participated in one of the previous editions of DARI 1 and until August 19 they will resume the international experience at UIE.
The DARI is a training action framed in the UIE China Plan, whose main objective is to support Galician companies in their entry and positioning in the Chinese market, providing them with multilingual professionals from that country with business training, as well as to promote the Galician tourism sector in China.
In addition to the implementation of the new modality, DARI 1 resumes its fifth edition, after having been interrupted due to the effects of the pandemic. A total of 14 students from UIBE and 5 from UIE will be trained, from July 16 to August 27, through visits to companies and institutions, they will develop projects for companies in multicultural teams, improve their level of Spanish and Chinese and carry out tourist and leisure activities to get to know Galicia from a more enjoyable and different perspective.
UIE: international vocation
At UIE we encourage our students to expand their experiences with international stays in prestigious foreign centers, thanks to agreements with institutions on practically all continents. Thus, we are the first Galician university that has signed an academic agreement with Tel Aviv University (TAU), the leading academic institution in Israel. Added to this are permanent collaborations with universities in Europe: London School of Economics in the United Kingdom, Haute École de Gestion de Genève in Switzerland, Dublin Business School in Ireland, Flensburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, Poznan University of Economics in Poland, Université Toulouse III-Paul Sabatier in France, University of Applied Sciences of Vienna in Austria and the Universities Nova and Porto in Portugal. In America, it has agreements with Georgetown University, the University of California Riverside, the State University of New York at Albany, in the United States and IESA in Panama. And in Asia, it is worth highlighting the last five years of close collaboration with the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) and Tianjing Foreign Studies University, China, in addition to the cooperation with Istanbul University.
In 2022 we strengthened our international agreements and alliances in Europe and America. On the American continent, we signed a collaboration agreement with the Colombian Association of Administration Faculties (ASCOLFA), an entity that represents 132 higher education institutions in Colombia and sealed a strategic alliance with the Advanced Leadership Foundation (ALF), based in Washington DC, for internships in Fortune 500 companies in the United States. The ALF Foundation is chaired by Juan Verde, former advisor to President Barack Obama and named UIE’s first medal of honor. Another relevant milestone in 2022 has been the exclusive signing in Galicia of an agreement with the prestigious University of Cambridge (Girton College) that allows our students to participate in specialized Business and Engineering programs in their Summer School.
Throughout 2023 we signed alliances with the entire Galician business class in America, signing agreements with AEGU (Association of Galician Entrepreneurs of Uruguay), AEGA Argentina, AEGASP (Association of Galician businessmen of Sao Paulo Brazil) and UMEGAL (Mexican Union of Galician Businessmen) and promoted the creation of the first Association of Galician Businessmen in China (AEGA CHINA).
