Great success of the UIE boats in the Spanish Vaurien Championship

Paloma González Esteban, student of our degree in Business Administration has won the Spanish Vaurien Sailing Championship this weekend with the Real Club Náutico de Vigo. Winner of several national women’s championships, this is her first absolute victory with Antonio Pérez, “Tone”, as her boss.
Paula González Esteban, state champion in the previous two years with her sister Paloma, revalidated the women’s title, sailing this time with Sara Serrano, from RCN de Vigo. The Spanish Championship was held on this occasion in the Cantabrian town of Laredo with the participation of 33 boats.
Paloma González Esteban, a business administration student at UIE, and her sister Paula, a nurse, both natives of Poio, also won the Vaurien sailing world championship in July last year, held in the waters of the Ría de Vigo, revalidating the title they already They will reach it in 2018. Both will attend the Vaurien World Cup in Le Havre again in the month of July. Paloma, who has been sailing since 2012, combines studies and work to train every weekend and steal the hours she can a week. Despite her efforts, sport brings many values to her life. With three gold medals in world championships, 5 Spanish championships and a silver medal from the Olympic Committee, as both sisters emphasize, “sailing teaches you teamwork, perseverance, discipline, order and dedication”.
Also this past March, Paloma González and two other UIE crew members, Antonio Novo and Alejandro Pérez-Canal, won the II Galician Championship Sailing university student. The three crew members of the UIE sailing team, students of the degree in Business Administration and Management, stand out for their ability to work as a team. Their achievements are a sample of the same commitment, values and dedication that they demonstrate every day in the classrooms of the Vigo campus. The same values of effort and perseverance that are promoted by UIE, a people-centered institution that educates by strengthening skills, abilities and knowledge, to learn beyond the university.
