The president of ABANCA highlighted the importance of the financial sector and talent management for economic and social development during his UIE Forum conference

Juan Carlos Escotet Rodríguez offered a conference today within the framework of the UIE Society and Economy Forum, which was held this afternoon at the Headquarters Foundation A Coruña. The president of ABANCA, economist and Master in Professional Management Sciences from the University of Miami, and founder and president of Banesco Grupo Financiero Internacional, spoke about “Opportunities in changing environments: the banking business and talent management.” Ana Teresa Tavares-Lehmann, former Secretary of State for Industry of Portugal and professor at the Faculty of Economics of the Universidade do Porto, was in charge of introducing the speaker.
In his conference, Juan Carlos Escotet offered his vision on the current economic situation and future prospects in an environment marked by uncertainty. The central idea of his intervention was the existence, at this time and despite the difficult environment, of great opportunities for economic and social development, and whose exploitation requires an active contribution from the banking sector and a boost to the management of the talent.
The president of ABANCA explained how the economy is evolving better than expected, although significant challenges remain. In this context, he highlighted the role of financial entities and their greater solidity than in the previous crisis, which in the case of ABANCA strong> has translated into higher financing granting rates than the sector.
Juan Carlos Escotet Rodríguez defended the importance of talent for the economic and social development of a country. In this sense, he advocated for “building an entrepreneurial culture that allows us to promote the creation of companies and values the work of the entrepreneur” and placed in the effort of ABANCA to contribute to achieving that objective the creation from the Intercontinental Business University.
UIE SOCIETY AND ECONOMY FORUM
The UIE Society and Economy Forum was born as a proposal for debate and reflection on the challenges, challenges and risks of the current economic and social context. The programming includes conferences and debates by national and international experts in areas such as new technologies, industry 4.0, artificial intelligence and robotics, sustainability and new economic models, the social problems and challenges that all current structural changes entail, paradigm changes, the generation of value by companies or their governance, among others. The forum addresses, in a context of the intangible revolution and volatile environment, new formulas such as the circular economy, the silver economy or the gig economy and the challenges we face as a society.
Juan Verde, international strategist and currently member of Joe Biden’s Export Council, and Francisco Botas, CEO of ABANCA, will be the next speakers at the forum, which will be held in Vigo in September and October.
